Evidence-Based Medicine For Treatment Protocolss, And...

I. Introduction: The purpose of this paper is to evaluate evidence-based medicine for treatment protocols, treatment guidelines, and outcomes for Obesity and provide the perspective of conventional medicine, complementary and alternative health, and integrative medicine (IM) to determine new standards for medical treatment. A. Obesity - is an excessive accumulation of fat cell within the body that impairs a person’s health and is called malnutrition or undernutrition. Malnutrition includes wasting, stunting, underweight, inadequate vitamins or minerals, overweight, obesity, and diet-related noncommunicable diseases (â€Å"WHO | Obesity,† 2014). Provide statistical data. There are 50 states that currently have an obesity rating 20% or higher.†¦show more content†¦Based on past research efforts and their success rate I will determine, which medical model will most combat the obesity epidemic. C. Conclusion - The data provides proof that obesity has only increased over the past couple of decades. It shows that there hasn’t been any fluctuations in both adult and childhood obesity. The best practices for the disease/condition would be to understand how different foods affect different body types. It is my belief that the human body is unique to each individual. Foods and their effects on the body needs to be further researched and understood. There are different types of bodies and each body many require special attention when it comes to diet and nutrition. The goal of treatment will be to gain more knowledge of how various herbs, vitamins, and foods affect individuals differently how to incorporate these methods successfully. A clinical care model will include a comprehensive understanding of common foods available to the general public, how often the foods are purchased, and the effects that they have on the general public. Healthier foods will then be integrated that are proven to reduce weight gain and obesity. The clinical model will prove that when lower calorie healthy plant based foods and vegetables are integrated into the diet weight loss is inevitable. II. Review of Evidence-Based Medicine i. The standard of care for the treatment of obesity

Federal Qualified Public Health Clinic - 1223 Words

Background Statement: Federal Qualified Public Health Clinic (FQPH) is experiencing an organizational break down. Many of FQPH patients are recipients of Medicaid and SCHIP, or uninsured self-pay clients as it is located in a large Northwestern City. The physicians are frustrated with current conditions. As a last-ditch effort, they inform Administrator of their complaints that need immediate attention or they will terminate employment. Those complaints include inadequate paper medical records; inefficient patient registration practices; mean and slow employees; mistreatment of patients and medical staff; inadequate staff; disorganization of medical supplies and medications; untimely lab results; unclean facility; and unsafe parking.†¦show more content†¦Medical records are not electronic, but paper, which causes them to become lost or misfiled. Physicians need readily access to patient records so they can treat patients effectively. The secondary issues are lack of clearly defined roles. The physicians’ primary role is to provide patient care; however, the physicians are performing administrative duties such as scheduling clinic coverage and maintaining adequate medical supplies in examination rooms. Such task should be assigned to administrative assistants. Undefined employee roles create problems because some tasks remain unfinished. Another secondary issue is the weakened employee expectations and employee performance, which adversely affects good patient care as well. The person in charge of patient registration is unprofessional to staff and patients. The facility is not clean because maintenance is slow in performing assigned duties. The parking is unsafe and unattended. The staff lacks the motivation to perform well. Your Role As administrator of the clinic, I oversee the daily operations of the clinic. The advantage of being the administrator is that I can implement the necessary changes. The disadvantage of being the administrator is that the burden falls on me to ensure the organizational structure is solid and functional from lower level to upper level positions. Often administrators cannot to be the eyes on the floor

Canadian Democracy Veiws Of Canadians Essay - 1450 Words

Strengthening Canadian Democracy The views of Canadians nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; In the report by Paul Howe and David Northrup titled, â€Å"Strengthening Canadian Democracy: the Views of Canadians† Policy Matters 1:5, Canadians attitudes towards government including questions about electoral system reform, representation and the rate of veter turnout.(Howe amp; Northrup, 2000) After reading, this report it is clear that many Canadians find many issues of their government to be unacceptable. One of the most menacing concerns is in the form that government attains office. The voting process, the form in which Canadians are represented by their Members of Parliament, and the first past the post method of election.†¦show more content†¦More specifically the representation that women and visible minorities receive in parliament. â€Å"Women, visible minorities, and Aboriginal peoples continue to be significantly under-represented in the ranks of elected politicians at all levels of government.†(Howe amp; Northrup, 2000) It is obvious that sufficient representation by government means that everyone in Canada must be represented. There has been an increase for females elected to parliament, however it is subtle. In comparison to other countries, Canada is in the middle, ranked 29th worldwide, in this area. (Howe amp; Northrup, 2000) Canadians do feel that something should be done to even the playing field by choosing as many female representatives as they do males, much like the Reforms taking place in France. Measures have been taken to rectify this situation, with Bill C-2. This Bill suggested that parties with at least 20 per cent female MPs would be granted a larger amount of reimbursement for their election expenses, and an even larger refund for those parties with 30 per cent female MPs. (Howe amp; Northrup, 2000) Canadians support the idea that parties should be required to increase the amount of female candidates. Visible minorities are also under-represented by government. In 1997, visible minorities accounted for little over 6 per cent of Members of Parliament. An increase from 1993 when this group made up 4.4 per cent, and 1.7 per cent in 1988.Show MoreRelatedThe Importance of the Jury System1366 Words   |  6 Pageseffective and useful because Canada prides itself in its value of democracy which is shown through the involvement in justice, it allows for the peers of an accused to hear the entire facts of a case and the fate of the accused is not in the hands of solely one individual who may have conflicting opinions and values than that of the accused. In the following, the reasons for having the jury system become an integral part of the Canadian Justice System. The involvement of a jury is important because

A Midsummers Night Dream Essay Example For Students

A Midsummers Night Dream Essay The use and misuse of magic has an important role in A Midsummer Nights Dream. As a reoccurring theme, Pucks use of magic creates humor, conflict and balance in the play. The magic of Puck changes the head of Bottom into that of a donkey. Pucks own use magic adds more humor to the already comical and over-confident character of Bottom.Pucks magic also creates a great deal of humor in the dealings of Bottom and Titania. The contrasted humor is clearly shown as Titania weaves flowers into the hair of Bottoms donkey like head. Titania is a beautiful and delicate creature, while Bottom is completely grotesque. Magic creates an unreal image of Bottom, which in turn creates a comical contrast between Bottom and Titania. As part of the already comical sub-plot, Bottoms altering through magic adds even more humor to the overall play. Next, the misuse of magic causes conflict among the four Athenian lovers. When Puck mistakenly applies the love potion to Lysanders eyelids. At this point, both male characters of the main plot have fallen in love with Helena, leaving Hermia out of balance. The struggle of the four lovers is one of the more complicated conflicts in the play. The conflict could have been avoided if Puck did not misuse his magic. However, because Puck mistakenly used his magic on Lysander, conflict erupted. Lastly, just as Pucks magic caused turmoil and chaos among the lovers, it also aided in restoring balance. As the play ends, Puck no longer holds Lysander under his spell, however, Demetrius remains enchanted. It is important that Lysander is no longer enchanted. At this point, Lysander can return to Hermia. It is equally important that Demetrius remains under Pucks magic because it is the only way that he will love Helena. Now that Lysander has returned to Hermia and Demetrius is still in love with Helena, ultimate balance has been restored in the love life of the Athenian youths. Without magic, the play would not have the same element of humor that is does. Also, the absence of magic would alter the overall plot and no reason for balance would be presented. The reoccurring theme of magic has a significant role the play.

Big Pig Gig Essay Example For Students

Big Pig Gig Essay Patronage, not to confused with the similar word patronize, is the support of art by a patron, the patron being the one who pays the bills so to speak. In renaissance Italy, art patronage was everything to the elite. Whether they were paying for sculptures, architecture or painting, patronage was in reality a tool for social and political gain. Today, art isn’t often commissioned; instead it is made and sold like other products. However, every once in a while a patronage will reveal itself like it did in Cincinnati in 2000 with an event called the Big Pig Gig. In both past and present, patronage plays a role in more aspects than just art itself. Florence during the renaissance was the place to be. A cultural revolution pulled Florence and the majority of Europe from the medieval era into a new one with humanistic ideals. Art flourished during this time period through a system of patronage networks. Patronage was a social institution practiced throughout Europe for centuries. During the 15th century it reached a peak. In Florence, early patronage was associated with the church, which was a result of the powerful episcopal political influence in central Italy. Patronage was not an â€Å"option. † â€Å"Patronage is great for the production of art, but totally irrational from an economic point of view. Patronage is a political strategy†(Medici:Godfathers). It was the key to social and political status. For example, Cosimo de Medici commissioned Filipo Brunelleschi, arguably one of the greatest architects of all time, to build a beautiful orphanage. Considered one of the first buildings of the renaissance, it is built with roman arches and classical columns. But why waste such a brilliant mind and beautiful design on a public orphanage? Because what looks better to the people than helping the children. Cosimo gained social standing and with that political standing. How could the people deny a leader who will spend florins to help those less fortunate? Brunelleschi also completed the dome on top of the cathedral, which had been a source of embarrassment for the church and the city of Florence. â€Å"The dome towered majestically over the city of Florence, a triumph for the Florentine people and the city’s most powerful family † (Medici:Godfathers). Again, Cosimo has used art, more specifically architecture to improve the city and his own status. Architecture was not the only way the Medici furthered themselves through patronage. They commissioned sculptures and paintings from the likes of Donatello, Botticelli Leonardo and many other greats of the era. Through these new and innovative creations, social and political status was achieved and a mark was left on the city. No one would forget the Medici. As Cosimo stated, â€Å"I know the humors of my city, before 50 years have passed we shall be expelled, but my buildings will remain. † If he only he knew how long. Centuries later in the city of Cincinnati, the art community was a buzz. â€Å"Tamara Harkavy, director of Cincinnati-based Artworks, is helping launch what may be Greater Cincinnati’s largest public art project next spring† (Stein). And so began the Big Pig Gig. Artists would be paid to paint pigs for Cincinnati and surrounding areas, 250 or more of them. Sponsors were putting in big money to have pig sculptures decorated and placed. Sound familiar? What a resounding example of modern day patronage, though now it was more likely to be businesses instead of families commissioning the pigs. There are, of course, a multitude of differences between the cultural revolution of the renaissance and the pig take over of Cincinnati, but similarities are there. Artists were solicited for the Porkoplis art. Though it is not a competition, this is similar to the one held by the Merchant’s guild of Florence to decorate the east doors of the Baptistery. A difference lies though in the patrons. Instead of an individual or a family or a guild finding an artist they enjoy and commissioning them to do a piece, companies were also solicited to buy the pigs as the whole operation was run by (but not paid for) Artworks. .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb , .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .postImageUrl , .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb , .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb:hover , .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb:visited , .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb:active { border:0!important; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb:active , .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc000e743af0b5f7efee11a478a9f59cb:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Decubitis Ulcers EssayThe companies did however get to choose their artists, though it was from a list. Another similaritt lies in the depiction of the patrons within the art. â€Å"Botticelli’s painting celebrated Cosimo il Vecchio, Piero il Gottoso, Giuliano de’Medici and his brother Lorenzo, all gathered around the Holy Family† (Medici: Godfathers). Patrons in the renaissance were often inserted into the art they had commissioned because it allowed the masses to know who had ordered such a piece. As discussed earlier, this was for social and political gain. The pigs for the gig of course could not be done in exactly the same way. â€Å"No advertising or commercial messages are allowed on pigs, but a nameplate on the platform will identify the purchaser and the artist† (Findsen). Though only a nameplate, what better way to show the people you care than to have their city decorated with fun sculptures of playful pigs? Though it cannot be said for sure, it can alleged that perhaps those buying for the Big Pig Big were not doing so just to beautify the city. And like Cosimo buying an orphanage, pigs were bought for school children to paint. Another show for the public perhaps, but at least a good one. T he last similarity lies in the reasoning behind the art. In the 1830s, Cincinnati was dubbed Porkoplis for it’s huge roaming pig population. â€Å"The Big Pig Gig is an effort to put more pigs in downtown Cincinnati, Newport and Covington than there were in the 1830s† (Findsen). Like the Medici, and other families of the renaissance, Cincinnati wanted to revive some of its past. Pigs may not seem nearly as important as the ruins of ancient Rome in Florence, but humanity thrives on its cultural heritage. Unlike the renaissance, there were no scandals involving the church or homosexuality during the Big Pig Gig. It was decisively less of a game and more for the city than the patronage of the past, but it was nonetheless a fine example of modern day artistic benefaction. Regardless, of the meaning behind it, without the support of art we would be living in much more drab world. And who knows, maybe in the future, another civilization will look back at Cincinnati and other cities works of art and as a new kind of artistic revolution.
